Ms. Ellis-Monro has been practicing law in the area of bankruptcy and creditors' rights since 1995. Currently, the majority of her practice consists of representing debtors in corporate reorganizations, secured and unsecured creditors in all chapters of bankruptcy and as counsel for chapter 7 trustees. Ms. Ellis-Monro has served as counsel for Case Engineered Lumber, Inc., Drilling & Blasting Systems, Inc. and APHI Group, LLC in each of their chapter 11 cases. She has also served as special counsel to the debtor and the liquidating agent of Flooring America, Inc., counsel for Value Music, Inc., The Music Network and Knology Broadband, Inc. In addition she is counsel to the Chairman of the Creditors’ Committee in the Dairy Production Systems, LLC cases as well as serving as counsel to secured creditors in a number of other cases. Prior to beginning her practice, Ms. Ellis-Monro served as law clerk to the Honorable George L. Proctor, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Middle District of Florida from 1993-1995
.In 2007 and again in 2008 , Ms. Ellis-Monro was recognized as one of Georgia’s “Elite Lawyers” in bankruptcy by Georgia Trend magazine. Ms. Ellis-Monro is admitted to the bar in Georgia and is currently the Chair of the State Bar of Georgia Bankruptcy Section. She is a past president of the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, Atlanta Chapter and is a past board member of the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation Georgia Network . Her other memberships include the Bankruptcy section of the Atlanta Bar Association.
Ms. Ellis-Monro received her juris doctor from the University Of Georgia School of Law in Athens, Georgia in 1992. She was admitted to practice in Georgia in 1992 and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia and the United States Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit. Ms. Ellis-Monro received her B.S. from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana in 1984. Outside of the office Ms. Ellis-Monro enjoys spending time with her husband and two children and playing tennis. | |
